The role of a dialysis technician

The person suffering with non functional kidneys face problems like incapable of disposing wastes from the body. Dialysis is the artificial replacement of these nonfunctional kidneys. This process of dialysis is used for the people who are facing acute kidney problems. The dialysis technician is the one who operates the dialysis machine which is used for the patients with kidney problems.

 

Dialysis technician operates the machine which helps in removing the excess fluids and wastes form the body of the patients in which these functions cannot be carried out normally. They are also known as renal technicians or hemodialysis technicians. They help in maintaining the normal levels of chemicals in the overall body. Patients suffering from dialysis have 3 sessions on a weekly basis for about 3 hours each.

 

Dialysis technician have to monitor their patients for the blood pressure after and before the process, prepare them for the treatment, monitor the machines and perform the process of dialysis effectively. Their main role is to make the patients comfortable during the process and maintain the machines by cleaning them regularly.

They have to care of the machines properly by getting them serviced on a timely basis to avoid any problems during the process of dialysis. Dialysis technician needs to keep a record of the patient’s temperature, blood pressure, weight and pulse rate. They need to have good communication skills which helps them to maintain a friendly relationship with their patients.
